Culinary Heritage Awaits

Freedom is a culinary and cultural kiosk on the Halifax Waterfront that celebrates the heritage and creativity of African Nova Scotian communities. We serve handheld comfort food with roots in African Nova Scotian tradition — including Nova Scotian Blueberry Grunt, Honey Maple Molasses Cornbread and our signature Down Home Crispy Chicken Wings — alongside art, crafts, and retail products from local African Nova Scotian artists and makers. More than just a place to eat, Freedom offers a rich educational experience—sharing powerful stories, uplifting community, and inviting all to engage with the vibrant and unique African Nova Scotian culture that has helped shape culture across Canada and beyond.
